Police released the suspect's name during a press conference held Tuesday. She is identified as Anna Patricia Dominguez, a 29-year-old Hispanic female.
Dominguez is accused of killing Araceli Juarez-Montero, a 30-year-old Hispanic female, and Juarez-Montero's two sons, ages four and five. She has been charged with three counts of capital murder.
The victims' husband and father, Hugo Juarez, discovered the bodies of his wife and sons on Friday when he returned home to his apartment in the Abbey at Boulder Ridge Apartments in Homewood. He was placed in protective custody following the murders.
Police began a death investigation after arriving to the scene and determined the cause of death for the victims to be homicide.
Police say that Dominguez was an acquaintance of some of the family's members and robbery appears to be the motive for the crime. They say that several items were taken from the family's home.
Dominguez was taken into custody and is being transferred to the Jefferson County Jail on Tuesday, Dec. 18. She is being held on no bond.
