COVINGTON, KENTUCKY (FOX19) -

Four Covington police officers were recognized on Tuesday for their heroic acts in the field.

The officers came under fire during a robbery investigation in September.

Specialist Mark Richardon was shot, but survived his injuries.

He received the 'Cleophus John Eifert Award' for wounds sustained on the job.

Officer Michael Gilliand, Sergeant Kevin Brady and Sergeant Brian Steffen all earned citations for bravery, due to their quick thinking at the scene.

Officials say Richardson will return to the doctor after the new year and hopes he will be given a full bill of health to return to the force.
