WALKER COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -

Officials with the Alabama Department of Insurance say two men have been arrested for their part in the vandalism of one Walker County church and a fire set at another.

The vandalism and fire were discovered on Tuesday morning. Investigators say the Jasper Alliance Church was set ablaze after being burglarized and the nearby Antioch Missionary Baptist Chruch was burglarized and vandalized.

21-year-old Matthew Dalton Elliott and 18-year-old Michael Ray Wilson were arrested Tuesday afternoon by the Alabama State Fire Marshal's Office, the ATF and the Walker County Sheriff's Office.

Both are facing identical charges of two counts each of third degree burglary, third degree theft of property, first degree criminal mischief and one count each of second degree arson. The arson charges carry a penalty of up to 20 years in prison.

Both men are being held in the Walker County Jail.
