Tameka Wynn, a mother of two, has been unemployed for five months and call the gift card an unexpected blessing. Source: WBRC videoThe Parker High School football players are digging deep to help a single parent with two children this holiday season.
They, along with members of the school's quarterback club, presented the mother of two with a $500 gift card.
This is the first year the students and club members have done this and they didn't go out and try to raise money. Instead they gave whatever spare change and cash they had of their own.
Mother of two and recipient Tameka Wynn has been unemployed for the last five months. She says this is a very big and unexpected blessing.
"I really didn't know how I was going to provide for my girls for Christmas and you know I prayed about it and like I said this came as a surprise to me but I'm very thankful for it," Wynn said.
The quarterback team also plans to adopt another family for New Year's.
After hearing about the team's generosity, members of the school's baseball team have also adopted a family for Christmas. They will present a gift card, toys and food to a family this weekend.
