FRANKLIN, OH (FOX19) -

Four children who were injured in a crash last weekend in Franklin are improving.

Tori and Logan Barhorst are in good condition and Haley Barhorst is in fair at Dayton Children's Hospital. Darius Nkanash is in fair condition at Cincinnati Children's.

They were among several people involved in a crash that killed four people, including a 7-year-old child.

The accident occurred around 2:30 a.m. on Dec. 23 on I-75, near the Manchester Road overpass.

Police say that two cars were involved in the accident.

According to reports, Joshua Nkansah and his two sons were traveling southbound in a northbound lane on I-75 when the accident occurred. Nkansah's vehicle struck a van driven by Michelle Barhorst and her family traveling northbound.

The Barhorst family was driving from their home in Madisonville, Tennessee to their grandparents' house in St. Mary's when the accident occurred.

Michelle Barhorst was pronounced dead at the scene. Scott Barhorst, Michelle's husband and passenger, was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Three children and a young adult were also traveling in the Barhorst van. Tori, 8, and Logan, 11 were flown to Dayton Children's Hospital with serious injuries.

Haley, 9, was flown to Dayton Children's Hospital with life threatening injuries.

Tyler Barhorst, 18, was transported to Atrium Hospital with minor injuries.

On Thursday, three of their teachers drove from Tennessee to visit the children in the hospital in Dayton and bring them Christmas presents.

Joshua Nkansah, 40, was behind the wheel of the vehicle traveling the wrong direction southbound in the northbound lane.  Nkansah and his son David, 7, were pronounced dead at the scene. Nkansah's son Darius, 4, was flown to Children's Hospital.

Police say it is suspected no one was wearing seatbelts in the Nkansah van.

Ohio Highway Patrol suspects alcohol to be involved on the part of the wrong way driver contributing to the crash.
