LOS ANGELES (AP) -
James Comisar has collected some 10,000 items of TV memorabilia and would like to put them in a museum. But that's not as easy as it sounds.
Comisar is one of many people who, after a lifetime of collecting, begin to realize that if they can't find a permanent home for their artifacts those objects could easily end up on the trash heap of history.
Just a sampling of the items include the costume for the 1950s "Superman" show, the set of "The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson," the pointy Spock ears Leonard Nimoy wore on "Star Trek," and guns Tony Soprano used in "The Sopranos."
Comisar believes he's finally found the right site for a museum in Phoenix. He estimates it will take several years to open the doors, but hopes to have a preview center in place next year.
