BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -
The Jefferson County Coroner's office is investigating a set of human skeletal remains found near a part of the Robert Trent Jones golf trail. The skeletal remains were found near the 9th hole of the Valley course at the Oxmoor Valley Golf Course.
The land where the body was found is not part of the golf course property.
The coroner's office was first notified on Sunday and spent most of Monday morning at the remote site marking and collecting evidence. Part of the ground in this clearing appears to have been burned with the blackened earth remaining as evidence.
You can't get to the site from the golf course without wading across a creek and there is no easy access road to this site from the other direction, either.
The coroner's office hasn't said yet how long it may take to identify these remains, and aren't saying whether they consider this a homicide case.
