FLAGSTAFF, AZ (CBS5/AP) -
A cold front headed toward Arizona could bring rain and snow showers to northern and eastern parts of the state.
The National Weather Service in Flagstaff said the cold front will move into northwestern Arizona on Wednesday afternoon and move across the northern part of the state as evening approaches.
Clouds will increase over the Phoenix metro area, and high temperatures will run a little below normal, topping out in the upper 50s to lower 60s. The end of the week will feature colder mornings with lows in the 30s in many Valley areas.
Temperatures will warm a bit for the upcoming weekend, topping out in the mid-60s.
Forecasters expect snow showers and rain at lower elevations in both northern and eastern Arizona. But the storm isn't very powerful, and only about an inch of new snow is expected for each six-hour period from Wednesday night through Friday.
The storm should pass north of central and southern areas of Arizona.
Dry conditions are expected for the weekend.
