BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -
In 2010, Brandon Eady was a fighter on the rise. The boxing champ won a national title and multiple fighter of the year awards. Eady was on his way to turning pro in boxing when he was left paralyzed with a broken neck and ruptured spinal cord.
But he's determined to not let the car accident that ended his career take away his life. With an intent to get back to 100 percent and someday run and walk again with his two daughters, he's rehabilitated and worked to restore his legs and body.
"Stay vigilant." It's a phrase that was always important to Brandon in boxing, but since the wreck its taken on a completely different meaning.
"Vigilant to me means persistence," Eady said.
And so far it's paid off. With the help of a walker, Brandon is now on his feet and even lifting weights. In the process, he hopes to help encourage others to do the same.
It will be a lifelong journey for Eady to get back to fully running and walking on his own again, but no matter what he said he isn't giving up.
