TALLADEGA COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -

It's been almost a week since a 5-year-old Talladega boy was reportedly taken by his father and Thursday, the boy's mother speaks out asking anyone with information to come forward.

The mother, Amanda Turner, says her son Thomas Evan Diggs, who goes by Evan, was taken Friday, Dec. 21 but she didn't know her he was gone until Saturday.

She says she and her ex-husband have been in a custody battle for some time now. She says that Thomas Eric Diggs, known as Eric, was supposed to have their 5 year old, Evan from Christmas to New Year's Day but had asked to see him this past Friday.

Turner agreed but only under the condition he was never to be left alone with him and that he stay at his mother's house. Turner says when she called the next morning her ex-mother in law answered and that Eric and Evan weren't there.

"She said that they were eating at Arby's and Eric said that he was taking Evan to the bathroom and the next thing she knew Eric left with Evan and so she called him and said he was going to meet her at the home," Turner said.

That never happened and both Turner and Eric's mother say they have not heard from him. Eric was last seen driving a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee that is white with a grey bottom.

Eric does have family in Daytona Beach but it's not known if he's headed in that direction.
