PRAIRIEVILLE, LA (WAFB) -
A 3-year-old boy is dead after the ranch cart he was riding in flipped and pinned him Thursday afternoon.
The Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office identified the victim as Remington Roussel.
The tragic accident happened in Prairieville around 4 p.m.
Deputies said Roussel and his brother were riding in the cart with their grandmother while she performed her daily routine of feeding her animals.
Lt. Col. Bobby Webre reported the woman suffered a seizure and crashed into a storage shed.
The cart overturned and Roussel got pinned underneath it.
The little boy was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital, where he died from his injuries.
Authorities said he sustained massive trauma to the head in the accident.
There was no word on his grandmother's condition.
APSO is still investigating the crash, but stated all signs point to the child's death being accidental.
