MUSCLE SHOALS, AL (WAFF) -
A Muscle Shoals policeman fired
for going deer hunting in his patrol car wants his job back.
Greg Scoggins' lawyer fired off a letter to the Muscle Shoals
police chief and mayor.
It's relatively short, about a page and half, and it
outlines the reasons why Scoggins' attorney believes he should still be on the
force.
In the letter, attorney Billy Underwood
said it is common for police officers to carry a second gun on them that's not
their issued firearm.
He also said there have been
other officers and/or Muscle Shoals public employees who have had DUIs that
weren't reported in the media and only one lost his or her job over a
conviction or charge.
Underwood also wrote about wrecks involving deer near the TVA
property and believes that issue needs to be addressed.
Scoggins was fired last week after allegations surfaced that
he shot and killed a deer while using his personal rifle on federal property.
He currently faces several charges.
Underwood has requested a
hearing for this Thursday on the matter.
