VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

Valdosta State guard Kourtnee Williams starts the new year with a nice award.

Williams has been named the Gulf South Conference player of the week honors.

Williams gets the award for her play during four games over the holiday break where she averaged more than 16 points a game.

The VSU basketball teams are on the road this week at West Georgia Thursday and at West Alabama on Saturday.
