KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Roozer Brewz, a tiny dwarf miniature horse from Kansas City, is gaining international attention as strangers help pay for a surgery he needs to function.

His owner is using a new trend called crowd funding to raise money for his medical bills - it means raising small amounts of money from a large number of people, typically via the internet. Cancer patients, musicians, small businesses and now the owner of the spunky miniature horse are getting help from those who connect to their cause.

If Roozer Brewz wants to check out a camera, he's going to do it. He walked right up to KCTV5's camera and came nose to lens with it. If he isn't up for toys, he'll quickly leave, sometimes he doesn't feel like socializing and he doesn't particularly care for boundaries either – which is demonstrated when he walks right under the fence on his owner's property.

"He is an ornery little guy who loves to give kisses," Christine Clark, Roozer Brews owner, said.

Roozer Brewz or Roo needs some help. Blue casts on all four of his hoofs allow him to walk, but he needs a more permanent solution.

"He was born with angular limb deformities," Clark said.

The surgery he needs is estimated to cost between $10,000 and $20,000.

Roo is almost 2 and the fighter has already survived a rocky birth, difficulty eating and standing and one surgery.

"I was inspired by a good friend of mine to put his story out there because he has been such a fighter and an inspiration to a lot of people," Clark said.

She said she isn't ready to give up, even though several veterinarians have recommended she put him down.

"I thought about that for a little bit and it is not an option for him. He has a will to live. He has been up and running, as you've seen today," Clark said.

There is an account set up at U.S. Bank and a post office box, as well as a Facebook page with an option to donate using PayPal.
