GARDENDALE, AL (WAFF) -
Members of a Decatur church said they're shocked and disturbed over a stabbing and double shooting incident in Gardendale involving their former pastor.
Authorities say a pastor's wife is dead and two people are hospitalized after a shooting and stabbing at her family's home near Birmingham.
The coroner's office says 52-year-old Lisa Greer died early Friday. She was the wife of Rev. Terry Greer, senior pastor at Gardendale-Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church.
Police aren't releasing any names, but they say a man is suspected of shooting two women before stabbing himself inside the Greer home on Thursday.
The church has posted a note on its Facebook page about an unspecified "tragedy" involving its pastor's family.
Authorities say the man is a suspect in this incident. He's reported in critical condition and cops say if he pulls through, he will be arrested.
Greer has been the pastor at the Gardendale Mount Vernon United Methodist Church since he moved over there from Decatur in July of 2012.
A worship leader at the same church was recently arrested on charges of soliciting a child for sex. Lynch says investigators are trying to determine if there's a link.
