KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -
A 23-year-old Kansas City man has been charged in the Tuesday shooting and murder of Demon Woolridge, according to Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker.
Raymond M. Douglas, 23, faces charges of second-degree murder and armed criminal action.
Several people were in custody Tuesday night after the standoff that resulted from a carjacking that turned deadly.
One man is dead after the shooting that happened about 7:40 p.m. Tuesday near the Holliday Liquor Store at 75th Street and Troost Avenue. Woolridge's body was found in a parking lot.
According to court documents, witnesses said the suspects fled in the victim's car, a black Ford Taurus. Officers ended up finding the carjacked vehicle abandoned at 72nd Street and Lydia Avenue.
Police blocked off the area and surrounded a home on the southeast corner of the intersection.
About 11 p.m., officers said four or five people came out of the home and were taken into custody.
Those people were questioned about the homicide.
Witnesses said an altercation and Douglas drew a gun and fired at Woolridge. Douglas then drove off in the Woolridge's vehicle, witnesses said. A weapon was found at the home where Douglas was taken into custody.
Prosecutors requested a bond of $250,000 cash.
