SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

A man police say was wanted for armed robbery was identified after asking for the time.

The Holyoke Police Department Narcotics Division arrested the alleged suspect, Alex Echevarria in an alley on Suffolk Street on Wednesday.

According to police, Echevarria walked up to Detective Hamel, who was checking the area, and asked him for the time.  Det. Hamel identified Echevarria as the suspect wanted for armed robbery.

While being placed under arrest, Det. Hamel noticed a hospital band on Echevarria's wrist.  Echevarria claimed he had just been released from the hospital after being jumped the night before, but refused to name who attacked him.

Police say they found heroin and cocaine on Echevarria.
