SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -
Saginaw Police have arrested and charged a 14-year-old who is accused of stealing a vehicle at gunpoint in the city last week.
The Saginaw News reports that the carjacking happened as a landlord was shoveling snow at a property on N. Oakley, between West Holland and W. Remington, Saginaw's west side.
The teen, identified as Simone A. Howard, faces charges of felonious assault, carjacking and several firearm charges.Authorities are charging Howard as an adult in connection to the carjacking. The Saginaw News reported that Howard walked up to the landlord with a sawed-off shotgun and told him to hand over the keys to his 1999 Jeep Cherokee.
Once Howard made off with the Jeep, the landlord called 911 and police tracked down the vehicle parked at a nearby abandoned bank. The Saginaw News said officers tracked Howard's footprints in the snow to a residence about 100 feet from the bank. It was there that police found the teen with the keys and shotgun.
Howard was ordered held at the Saginaw County Juvenile Detention Center on $110,000 bond.
