LYONS, OR (KPTV) -
A Lyons man is accused of attacking his grandmother's nine-pound dog and putting it in a preheated oven.
Investigators said the woman went out of town and left Kudo, a 6-year-old Chihuahua-Pinscher mix, in the care of Kevin Parrish, 20.
Deputies said Parrish and his brother live at the house with their grandmother on North Fork Road.
Parrish admitted to deputies he had anger issues and lost his temper while dealing with the dog. He said on Friday he had preheated the oven to 350 degrees to prepare lunch before going to check on the dog.
When he reached in the dog's kennel, he said Kudo nipped at him. Deputies said Parrish admitted losing control, grabbing the dog and punching it in the head with his fist.
Deputies said he also admitted strangling the dog.
After that, investigators said Parrish put the dog in the hot oven. Parrish told deputies he was prepared to leave the dog there, but he heard his brother entering the house.
Parish then removed the dog from the oven and was confronted by his brother. The suspect's brother and father took the dog to the veterinarian for treatment.
The dog had cuts and bruises on his head, his body hair was singed and three of his legs were so badly burned from contact with the oven rack it had difficulty standing, according to investigators.
Parrish is charged with aggravated abuse, a class-C felony. His bail is $10,000 and he's set to appear in court Tuesday afternoon.
Deputies said he has no prior criminal record.
Kudo will remain in the care of the suspect's father for now and will continue treatment at the vet clinic.
