BAINBRIDGE, GA (WALB) -

When you have won 5 state titles, you have high standards.

Bainbridge head football coach Ed Pilcher says he wasn't living up to his after five seasons with the Bearcats.

 

Pilcher tells WALB News 10 Sports he handed in his resignation Thursday and informed his team today.

Pilcher calls it a gut decision and says he was not satisfied with the progress he was making with the Bearcats program.

The Bearcats had winning records in four of his five seasons but never made it past the first round of the state playoffs.

Ed Pilcher is one of the winningest coaches in Georgia High School history.

He has over 240 wins in 27 seasons as a head coach.

He started his career at Early County.

Moved to Thomas County Central where he won five state titles in a six year span.

Pilcher stunned many when he left TCC to take over the Bainbridge program.

Coach Pilcher says he isn't planning to retire at this point and will be open to any future head coaching opportunities.
