BLUE SPRINGS, MO (KCTV) -
A Blue Springs man has been charged with manslaughter and resisting arrest after a deadly car crash.
Prosecutors say 29-year-old Michael Garzee was drunk when he lost control, ran off the road and struck an utility pole during a police pursuit near Southwest U.S. 40 and Southwest 19th Street.
His passenger, 29-year-old Dustin Wardlow, was killed.
According to police, Garzee's blood-alcohol content was .122 percent about 3.5 hours after the crash.
Lake Tapawingo police initiated a vehicle pursuit shortly after 10 p.m. on eastbound U.S. 40, attempting to stop a black 2000 Mercury Sable for careless driving.
Police said Garzee fled from the officers heading east on U.S. 40 and entered the city limits of Blue Springs.
After the crash, Garzee then got out of the vehicle and ran, but was arrested moments later.
Prosecutors have requested a bond of $250,000.
