SCOTTSDALE, AZ (CBS5) -
Tempe police have identified the bouncer who was hospitalized in serious condition after he was stabbed several times outside an Old Town Scottsdale bar Sunday morning.
Tyrice Thompson, 27, of Laveen, was working at Martini Ranch as a security officer when he and other security staff escorted several people from the bar about 1 a.m. Sunday before it turned into a brawl, according to a Scottsdale police spokesman.
Thompson was stabbed five times during the fight and was taken Scottsdale Healthcare-Osborn with wounds to his back hip and arm, the spokesman said.
During interviews with witnesses and the people involved outside the bar at 7295 E. Stetson Dr., no one admitted to stabbing Thompson and no weapon was recovered, so everyone was released, the spokesman said.
But after follow-up interviews and reviewing security tapes, police developed probable cause to believe a 26-year-old Tempe man stabbed Thompson.
Police arrested the man about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday and he admitted involvement in the fight, but denied stabbing Thompson. He was released pending further investigation, the spokesman said.
Thompson remained in the hospital.
