ST. HELENA PARISH, LA (WAFB) -
Authorities
said they suspect a 21-year-old man who died when he lost control of a truck Monday
evening was impaired.
The Louisiana
State Police said Evan Vides of Ethel crashed on LA 38 about two miles north of
LA 10 in St. Helena Parish a little before 8 p.m.
Troopers
said their investigation showed he was headed west on LA 38 in a 2000 Toyota
pickup when he went off the road in a curve.
They
reported he then overcorrected, which sent the truck spinning across both lanes
of traffic and off the road on the opposite side.
According
to investigators, the truck hit several trees and flipped. It ended up on its
roof.
Vides was
pronounced dead at the scene.
LSP said
they believe he had been drinking before crashing. A sample of his blood was
sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for toxicology analysis.
Troopers
added he was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.
