SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -

Our wild winter weather is going to continue Tuesday tonight with the arrival of a strong arctic cold front.

We started the week with A mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain. That eventually turned to all rain and today we have record heat and flooding from a combination of snow melt and rain.  Rapid snow melt is also leading to Dense Fog in several locations.

Tuesday's warmer pattern is going to be brief though. An "arctic" cold front I mentioned above is set to cross the Great Lakes on Wednesday. Heavy rain, gusty winds, and even a few thunderstorms will accompany this front as it moves through.

The heavy rain will arrive here in Mid Michigan tonight and early Wednesday, then spread east across the area during the day. Rainfall amounts with this system could be heavy. Additional flooding will be possible for our entire area.

The National Weather Service has issued a FLOOD WATCH for all of Mid Michigan because of the impending weather. Be prepared for puddling and standing water on many roadways on Wednesday.

Behind the arctic front, much colder air will cause temperatures to drop sharply. Rain showers will change to snow shower Wednesday night. The snow showers will gradually transition to lake effect snow showers on Thursday.
