KAUFMAN COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

Multiple law enforcement agencies are still searching for the two people who they say shot and killed a Kaufman County prosecutor Thursday morning.

Authorities say assistant district attorney Mark Hasse was ambushed and shot multiple times in a parking lot near the Kaufman County Courthouse. It happened just before nine on Thursday morning as he was headed into court.

The FBI has joined the search efforts by offering up investigators for technical support. Those investigators will help chase down leads. The Kaufman Police Department says they've had a lot of them.

According to police, Hasse was gunned down in the parking lot by two people who were dressed in all black. Authorities say one of them was wearing a tactical vest. Authorities described the suspect vehicle as a brown or silver, older model Ford Taurus.

The Kaufman Police Chief says there were several witnesses who saw what happened, from several different angles. Those people are continuing to be interviewed throughout Thursday evening.

During a press conference, the Kaufman County District Attorney spoke to the shooters, directly.

"I hope the people that did this are watching, because we're confident we're going to find you. We're going to pull you out of whatever hole you're in, and we're going to bring you back and we're going to let the people of Kaufman County prosecute you to the fullest extent of the law," said Kaufman County District Attorney Mike McLellan.

"As far as the investigation details themselves are concerned, at this time we have several leads that we're working. Due to the nature of them, we can't discuss those until we have followed up on them," said Chris Aulbaugh, the Kaufman Police Chief.

District Attorney Mike McLellan said Hasse was aware of the dangers of his job and was an outstanding prosecutor. He added that Hasse will be greatly missed and will not be easily replaced.

Hasse was a felony prosecutor who worked a number of drug and murder cases. However, Thursday he was on his way into misdemeanor court when he was gunned down. A Kaufman County Judge said Hasse was not currently working any high profile cases that would have called for him to have extra security. Investigators are still looking into his case load.

Hours after Hasse was killed, the Department of Justice issued a release on its web site crediting the Kaufman County District Attorney's Office with helping investigate two known members of the "Aryan Brotherhood of Texas" gang. They pled guilty Thursday to racketeering charges.

Kaufman County Crimestoppers and a local business have partnered up to offer a $64,500 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of her person or people responsible for Hasse' death.
