ROCK HILL, S.C. (WBTV) -
A Rock Hill man has won $200,000 for the second time in four months.
What makes this repeat win even more incredible, and quite possibly a lottery first, is that both wins came on the same instant game purchased from retailers less than a mile apart.
The winner beat the 1 in 440,000 odds on The Color of Money in September at the MR Express 2 on Ebenezer Rd. and again this week at the Elliots Exxon on Cherry Rd. He won two of the six top prizes in the game.
"This is so weird," the winner said scratching his head.
"This is crazy," his wife said. "He's in shock."
For him, the second win is the sweetest.
It's erased his retirement worries, while the first win took care of his kids' college education.
"I'm done playing," he said grateful for the luck he's had and can't explain.
"He just has a good energy around him," said he's wife. "He's always been lucky, because he married me."
As of this release, one top prize remains in the $10 The Color of Money game. Odds of winning the top prize are 1 in 440,000.
For selling the claimed ticket, Elliots Exxon in Rock Hill received a commission of $2,000.
To date, lottery play has resulted in more than $2.9 billion transferred to support education. When players win so does the state. State income taxes are paid on prizes won and, as an additional service to the state, the Lottery withholds any back taxes and unpaid child support owed by the winners.
