AMHERST, OH (WOIO) -

Ohio Highway Patrol Troopers are trying to return stolen jewelry to its owners.

The jewelry, valued at thousands of dollars, was found during a March 2011 turnpike stop near Amherst.

Troopers had stopped George Hortado, 21, of New York City, for a marked lane violation and found out he had a warrant out for his arrest from his hometown.

The jewelry was found while troopers were taking inventory of the vehicle.

Troopers are asking that anyone who had jewelry stolen around that time contact them at: 419- 499-4808. Callers must be able to describe the missing jewelry.
