BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

Support for the little boy being held hostage in Midland City continues to grow. Friends and neighbors are holding nightly vigils in his honor.

Several Facebook pages have popped up- asking for prayers for Dale County. The Facebook pages also have information about the little boy's upcoming birthday. The little boy turns six on Wednesday. Many people around the country will show their support by sending his family birthday cards.

Facebook pages for the little boy and the slain bus driver Charles Polland are gaining more popularity daily. Thousands of people are posting prayers for the families involved, some are even leaving messages to the suspect, Jimmie Lee Dykes, begging him to let the boy go.

We are told Dykes is taking care of the boy, giving him medicine for Aspergers Syndrome and ADHD as well as letting the boy have his coloring books, and Hot Wheels cars he loves.

The Red Cross is assisting the family of the child, as well as all of the families who have had to leave their homes while this standoff is ongoing. They have grief counselors on scene. They are also providing meals. The Red Cross can always use monetary donations.
