TUCSON, AZ (AP) -

A Tucson woman has been was sentenced to five years' probation and 200 hours of community service for accidentally shooting her husband.

Pima County prosecutors say 66-year-old Vicki Jo Nemeth was indicted in June on aggravated assault and attempted first-degree murder.

She pleaded guilty to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon last month and could have received up to nearly nine years in prison.

Tucson police investigators say Douglas Nemeth was sleeping on his side when he was shot in the mouth. He suffered a broken vertebra in his neck, a broken jaw and several broken teeth.

The Arizona Daily Star says Vicki Jo Nemeth told officers that she and her husband of 46 years got into an argument because she'd recently obtained a credit card against his wishes.
