MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Do you have an elderly parent? A disabled child? An ill family member? If you sometimes find yourself overwhelmed with the daily stresses of caring for a loved one, then a new support group in Montgomery is for you. The group will meet for the first time Wednesday, February 6th.

Henrietta Hubbard, a community volunteer and former Montgomery Hospice board member, founded the group. She says hospice organizations are crucial support groups, but there are often caregivers who do not qualify for hospice assistance.

"This group is for anyone," Hubbard said. "It is open to people of all backgrounds, races and religions. We want to create an environment in which caregivers can express themselves openly and lean on one another for support and guidance."

Hubbard says the River Region has been without a caregiver support group like this until now.

The group will hold its first organizational meeting Wednesday at 12:00 noon at the Episcopal Church of the Ascension, which is located at 315 Clanton Avenue in Montgomery's Garden District. Attendees should enter at the rear of the church. The parking lot is accessible via Hull Street.

For more information, or if you are unable to attend this first meeting, you may reach Henrietta Hubbard at (334) 264-7990.
