CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

Some local organizations teamed up at the Cincinnati Museum Center to help veterans in the Tri-State.

Easter Seals Tri-State and the Dixon Center hosted the first of five 'Military & Veterans Initiative' meetings to help military veterans re-integrate into the community.

Leaders from the military, education and healthcare communities gathered to map out the current veteran services available in our area.

Organizers hope to help veterans access all the local resources available to them. In addition, their goal is to determine where gaps exist in areas like employment, education, health and well-being, family resources, housing and more.

Officials say nearly 50,000 military men and women have been wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan. Approximately 11-20% of Middle East veterans stuffer from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
