BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

It is a big day for high school recruiting as many prep stars formally commit to the universities where they plan to continue their sports careers.

Warrick Dunn Award winner Kendell Beckwith signs with LSU. It is yet unknown whether the 4-star defensive athlete from East Feliciana High will play linebacker or on the defensive line for the Tigers.  Jeryl Brazil, a 4-star defensive back from Loranger is also staying close to home after committing to LSU.

Woodlawn kicker Jonathan Barnes is taking his leg to Louisiana Tech. Four students from St. Michael have made their commitments. Running back CJ Okpalobi and offensive lineman Blake Hartman signed with Nicholls State. Quarterback Brandon Fields is taking his talents to Fordham University in New York. Defensive end Alex Ruch is headed to Millsaps College in Mississippi.

Three players from the Zachary High Bulldogs signed with schools. Donald Gage is headed to Houston, Chris Taylor will venture right down the road to Tulane and Darryl Garner is going to Miss College.

No. 1 ranked football prospect Robert Nkemdiche selected Ole Miss over LSU and Florida.

Look for coverage of over 50 players at nearly 20 high schools from around the Baton Rouge area signing with colleges and universities.

We'll have a complete list of signees for LSU, Southern and Southeastern.
