First-alarm house fire displaces Mesa family

MESA, AZ (CBS5) -

A family of four was able to escape their house after it caught fire early Wednesday morning in Mesa.

The Mesa Fire Department said that the son-in-law returned home, located near Gilbert Road and Brown Road, early Wednesday morning and saw smoke coming out of the house. He was able to get four adults and two children out of the house safely.

The fire turned into a first-alarm fire causing the firefighters to go defensive. The house is a total loss.

A cause of the fire is still under investigation.
