PHOENIX (CBS5) -

As winter conditions continue across the country Home Depot is gearing up for the busy spring season by hiring 80,000 seasonal associates.

The Home Depot stores located here in the Valley will be hiring 1,500 people to help with the seasonal rush. Last year half of the positions filled by seasonal workers turned into permanent positions with the company.

Home Depot is already accepting applications for various positions here in the Valley. To apply simply go to http://careers.homedepot.com and select the "in-store hourly" box for Phoenix.

Home Depot also has a web page set up for returning military members and veterans who are interested in a position that will help match them up with the best position possible in the company. Military members and veterans can visit http://www.careers.homedepot.com/military to get started.

Seasonal associates will be assigned responsibilities based on their previous retail or home improvement experience and based on the needs of individual stores.
