A Springfield man will spend up to four years in jail for biting off part of a basketball coach's ear last year.
Timothy Forbes was convicted of assault and battery causing serious bodily injury and mayhem. Forbes attacked the winning basketball coach in a Catholic Youth Organization championship game in March 2012. Fifth- and sixth-graders were playing in that game.
A doctor who performed reattachment surgery on the victim's ear said about 2 inches of the total 5 inches of the ridge of the ear was gone.
