GILBERT, AZ (CBS5) -
A Gilbert man's self-professed bad day got even worse after he was arrested on suspicion of robbing a Burger King at gunpoint Wednesday.
A cashier at the restaurant at Warner and Val Vista roads told police that James Richard Miletta, 74, walked into the business about 3:15 p.m. and said he was having a bad day. He then pulled a handgun and demanded money from the register, according to Sgt. Jesse Sanger of the Gilbert Police Department.
Witnesses told police they saw the suspect take the money and get into a tan Chevrolet passenger car and drive north on Val Vista Road.
Police caught up with the car about five minutes later and pulled Miletta over near Elliot Road, Sanger said.
He was arrested and a handgun and money were found in the car, Sanger said.
Miletta was booked into jail on $48,000 bond and remained in custody Thursday, Sanger said.
No injuries were reported.
