CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -
The Cincinnati Reds, in addition to other local companies and community members were awarded on Friday for their commitment to better the community.
The Urban League of Greater Cincinnati held its 64th annual meeting and 'Glorifying the Lions' award luncheon. The ceremony paid tribute and shared stories of seniors who have displayed a long-standing dedication to their community.
The name of the award 'Glorifying the Lions' comes from an old Nigerian proverb: 'Until the lions have their own historians, tales of the hunt will always glorify the hunter', meaning history isn't complete until both sides of a story are told.
In addition, Corporate Medallion awards were given to area companies for their exemplary service and commitment to the Urban League and Greater Cincinnati area. Among the recipients were the Cincinnati Reds and Heidelberg Distributing Company.
Reds President and CEO Bob Castellini accepted the award.
The event was held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in downtown Cincinnati.
