CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -
Mourners formed a circle in the
freezing cold at a vigil Saturday night to remember the life of 16-year-old Jennifer Zacarias. The teen was gunned down in her backyard Friday just after midnight.
The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner has ruled the 16-year-old's death
a homicide. She died from gunshots to the head, neck and upper
extremities.
Cops say Jennifer's father heard multiple gunshots outside. After
hearing the gunshots, he checked for her and found that she was not in her
room. The father went outside to look for Jennifer, and found her in
the backyard with multiple gunshot wounds.
Police have arrested a 16-year-old Hispanic male and charged him with aggravated murder. He's currently in the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Detention Center.
Jennifer's family tells 19 Action News that the suspect in custody was her boyfriend, but investigators are not confirming any details about the nature of their relationship.
