Springfield residents digging out their streets

Posted: Updated:
SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

While much of the city's plowing is complete, it appears that certain streets have gotten overlooked, and Mayor Domenic Sarno is not happy about it.

The scene on Windsor Street, in Springfield's Six Corners neighborhood, had residents literally digging their street out with shovels on Sunday.

One resident was willing to talk to CBS 3, but he would not stop shoveling because his wife is nine months pregnant.

When we spoke with Sarno late Sunday afternoon, he said he was going to call in the Windsor Street complaint himself.

Sarno said he is going to look into subcontractors and inspectors who apparently did not complete their jobs in certain parts of the city.

Any residents in Springfield still needing a plow are asked to call 787-6276.

Fifteen complaint units are on call until 7 a.m. Monday.
