A firefighter suffered a cut to his face while battling a house fire Sunday night in Hamilton.
The fire occurred in the 300 block of South 5th Street.
While en route to the scene, units from headquarters were blocked by a north bound train, and had to re-route around the tracks via High Street.
Upon arrival, dense black smoke was found issuing from all sides of the structure. The abandoned structure was boarded up and the boards had to be removed. As the structure was opened, attack teams found a moderate volume of fire in the structures main room. Tires, paints, solvent and paper items were found to be burning and were quickly extinguished.
Property records indicate that the structure is owned by the City of Hamilton.A fire investigator was called to the scene, but a cause has not yet been released.
There were no civilian injuries and one firefighter sustained a minor cut to the face. He was treated on the scene.
