TUSCALOOSA, AL (WAFF) -

Four University of Alabama football players who were arrested Monday on robbery and fraudulent use of a credit card charges have been indefinitely suspended from the team.

University of Alabama Police Department received reports of two robberies, the first around 12:35 a.m. in the 800 block of Campus Drive, and the second around 1:20 a.m. on 7th Avenue. Both victim told officers that they were assaulted and their belongings were taken.

After an investigation, Brent Cameron Calloway, Dennis Edward Pettway, Eddie Lee Williams, and Tyler J Hayes were arrested booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail on February 11.

Hayes, Williams, and Pettway all face second degree robbery charges. Williams and Calloway were also charged with fraudulent use of a credit card.

In an unrelated incident, Williams was arrested following a disturbance call at a convenience store one day before the robberies and charged with one count of carrying a pistol without a license.

Calloway is a runningback/tight end for the Crimson Tide. Hayes is a linebacker, Williams is a defensive back, and Pettway is a defensive lineman.

UA Director of Athletics, Mal Moore, released the following statement regarding the arrests:

"This is a very serious matter and we are very disappointed in the actions that have resulted in the charges against these student-athletes. In this type of situation, the Athletics Department works in conjunction with the University. We will have more to say at the appropriate time."

Head Coach Nick Saban also released this statement:

"The young men charged are indefinitely suspended as we continue to gather information and talk to the appropriate people. The University and football program have strict guidelines regarding issues of this magnitude. This behavior is unacceptable for any student-athlete at the University of Alabama and not representative of our football program."

Calloway, a UA freshman, graduated from Russellville High School.
