LAKE PALESTINE, TX (KLTV) -
Two men were rescued by another boater after their boat sunk on Lake Palestine Sunday afternoon.
Authorities tell us that two men were boating on Lake Palestine when their boat took on water near the Villages Marina. This is off of FM 2661 in Smith County. The two men were in the water and were able to yell for help to the shoreline. Another person then called authorities.
As the authorities were arriving on the scene, another boater was able to retrieve the two men and bring them to the shoreline where the Noonday Volunteer Fire Department and the Smith County Game Wardens were located. Both men were alert and wrapped up in blankets, and were later given oxygen.
One man was transported to a local hospital to be treated for possible hypothermia.
Crews were able to locate the boat about 30-35 feet below the surface of the lake and will retrieve it from the water.
