ST. HELENA PARISH, LA (WAFB) -
A house fire in St. Helena Parish left an 81-year-old woman dead early Sunday morning.
Hillsdale firefighters arrived on Opal Bennett Rd to find the home completely engulfed in flames. Once the fire was extinguished, they found the body of Rachel McCoy inside. Firefighters say the victim was the only one in the home.
Investigators say the fire originated near the bedroom area but they do not yet know the cause. The investigation is ongoing.
