SPRINGFIELD, LA (WAFB) -

Livingston Parish officials say schools in Springfield remain on partial lockdown as the search for a suspect continues.

The Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office began chasing a fugitive Sunday night who is wanted for carjacking and burglary. Someone reported a man outside the fenced area at Springfield Elementary Monday morning, so authorities put the school on lockdown.

Law enforcement agents are still searching for the suspect. They are focusing on the area behind the elementary school.

A helicopter is flying low behind there.
