OWENTON, KY (FOX19) -

Two people were killed and one person critically injured after an accident in Owen County on Monday.

Kentucky State Police say Gary Sigretto, 51, of Owenton was headed southbound in a pickup truck on Highway 127, when the vehicle crossed the center line for unknown reasons.

As a result, Sigretto's truck collided head-on with a car driven by Lillie Newby, 73, of Frankfort. It happened around 5:15 p.m.

Newby and passenger Patricia Gibson, 76, also of Frankfort, were taken to New Horizons Medical Center in Owenton where they were both pronounced dead.

Sigretto was flown to UC Medical Center for life-threatening injuries.

Authorities say everyone involved in the crash was wearing a seat belt.

Toxicology results for Sigretto are pending.
