BURTON, MI (WNEM) -
Ten horses were killed during a fire in Burton that also destroyed the barn that housed the horses.
The fire started at around 4 a.m. at the barn, located on Lippincott Boulevard near Belsay Road.
The barn was completely engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived on the scene and the structure is a complete loss.
Lippincott Boulevard was closed while firefighters handled the situation.
Burton Deputy Fire Chief Ken Gould said the fire was the third within the last month and second inside the same building.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
