HAMMOND, LA (WAFB) -
A Ponchatoula man is behind bars for allegedly shooting a woman in the shoulder during a home invasion in Hammond.
Investigators say Jarred Dotey, 20, entered a home on Happywoods Rd., armed with a gun and demanding money from the homeowner. During the confrontation with the owner, he forced his way down a hallway and saw a family escaping out a window.
According to reports, Dotey followed the escaping family and shot the woman, then stole her purse and fled.
The victim is in stable condition.
Dotey was arrested the next day after running from Livingston Parish deputies during a traffic stop.
He has been charged with aggravated burglary, attempted armed robbery, armed robbery and attempted first degree murder.
