BURTON, MI (WNEM) -

Officials say a fire that killed 10 horses in Burton has been deemed suspicious.

The fire started early Wednesday on Lippincott near Belsay Road.

The barn was completely engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived on the scene, and the structure is a complete loss.

Lippincott Boulevard was closed while firefighters handled the situation.

Burton Deputy Fire Chief Ken Gould said the fire was the third within the last month and second inside the same building.

The Flint Journal reports police have talked to a person of interest in the case but no arrests have been made.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
