FLORENCE, KY (FOX19) -
Hundreds gathered in Florence on Saturday for the Day of Resistance Rally.
Part of the national grassroots movement of more than 150 locally organized rallies, The Day of Resistance Rally is a peaceful gathering of citizens who reaffirm their right to bear arms.
Second Amendment Rights supporters gathered at the BlueStar Building for the peaceful rally.
Special honors were given to local sheriffs who have gone on record as supporters of Second Amendment Rights. Sheriffs Mike Helmig of Boone County, Chuck Korzenborn of Kenton County, Jeff Kidwell of Campbell County and Chuck Dills of Grant County were all honored at the event.
Representatives from the NRA also spoke at the event.,
Congressman Thomas Massie was the guest speaker at the rally. Massie, a strong supporter of Second Amendment rights, has worked to repeal federal gun free zones in schools.
A similar rally was held at The Square at Union Center in West Chester.
