LUKEVILLE, AZ (CBS5) -
A Mesa man is in custody after he allegedly tried to smuggle 6 pounds of crystal methamphetamine in an ice chest as he tried to re-enter the U.S. from Mexico.
Jose Luis Fuentes-Alvarado, 24, was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations.
Customs and Border Protection officers at the Lukeville Port said they referred Fuentes-Alvarado for an additional inspection of his sedan when he applied for entry at the border.
During the inspection, officers located the crystal methamphetamine inside the lining of an ice chest partially filled with seafood.
